The Honourable Laurel Broten (B.Sc., B.A., J.D., ICD.D, ECO) is the CEO of Invest in Canada, the federal corporation responsible for attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) opportunities into Canada.

She has 30 years of leadership experience from both the public and private sectors – as a lawyer and legislator, a former Cabinet minister with the Province of Ontario, public policy consultant, and as the past president and chief executive officer of the trade and investment agency for the Province of Nova Scotia.

With expertise in economic inclusion, environmental sustainability, and fiscal and regulatory responsibility, Laurel is a multi-award-winning CEO who brings solutions-oriented ideas to the table, and a builder of meaningful and strategic partnerships between business and government. Having lived in many regions across Canada and being fluently bilingual, Laurel brings a unique depth of knowledge about Canada and economic development to helping the best global companies choose Canada as their second home.
