Ravi Parmar is the MLA for Langford-Highlands, serving as British Columbia’s Minister of Forests and Deputy Government House Leader. He was first elected in a byelection to replace former premier John Horgan in the riding of Langford-Juan de Fuca and was re-elected in 2024 as MLA for the newly established riding of Langford-Highlands.

At the time of his appointment, Ravi became one of the youngest people ever to serve in cabinet and is currently the youngest MLA in B.C. legislature. He requested the forestry portfolio from Premier David Eby, with a clear focus on restoring confidence in the sector, building a stronger and more innovative forestry economy, and ensuring that workers and their families can thrive for generations to come. His work is centred on advancing reconciliation with First Nations, stabilizing a historically boom-and-bust industry and positioning B.C. as a global leader in sustainable forestry.

In addition to his ministerial role, Ravi serves as chair of the Council of Forest Ministers, leading collaboration with his ministerial counterparts across Canada to strengthen forestry communities, promote value-added manufacturing and safeguard forest ecosystems.

Born and raised in Langford, Ravi’s roots in the Westshore run deep. As the son of hard-working immigrant parents, he grew up with a deep respect for public service, good jobs and the value of strong communities. Today, he continues to call Langford home, and his work as MLA is guided by a commitment to delivering opportunity, prosperity and a bright future for the people and places that shaped him.
