Speakers Honourable Tamara Davidson

Tamara Davidson (Haida name Laanas) was first elected as the MLA for North Coast – Haida Gwaii in 2024.

Tamara was appointed Minister of Environment and Parks in November 2024.

Before being elected to the legislature, Tamara worked within the federal public service for over 25 years in various areas including land management, Indigenous relations and tourism. Tamara was also an elected representative of the Council of the Haida Nation, and played an instrumental role in the Haida Nation Recognition Act. She also served as a previous board member with First Peoples’ Cultural Foundation, First Peoples’ Council, Haida Enterprise Corporation, Coast Opportunity Fund, and Rediscovery Culture Camp.

Tamara is the first Indigenous woman to become the MLA representing North Coast – Haida Gwaii. She lives in Skidegate on Haida Gwaii.
