Description:
When it comes to transitioning our economy to recognize the global shift to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, there are things happening in Prince George that simply aren’t happening anywhere else. The City of Prince George and Tourism Prince George are collaborating with Lakeland Mills, Winton Homes, Tidewater Renewables, Arbios Biotech, Hydra Energy, UNBC, and the Community Energy Association to showcase examples of how the resource industries in Prince George are helping to lead the way to a low-carbon future, using their know-how and relationships to innovate new products and services.

Portions of this tour include being outside, please ensure you are wearing weather appropriate clothing for winter conditions for Northern BC. PPE Items like hard hats, vests, glasses, ear plugs will be provided.
IMPORTANT: MUST BE WEARING CLOSED TOE SHOES TO PARTICIPATE.

Check in and load bus at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre
10:00am:
Bus Departs

Stop One - Lakeland Mills
Group then divides into two: one group proceeds to the mill and then the district energy plant; the other group proceeds to the district energy plant and then the mill.11:00am
Load Bus and Depart

Stop Two - Winton Homes
Group divides into two: one group proceeds to the wall plant and then the high-performance demo module; the other group proceeds to the high-performance demo module and then the wall plant.
Noon
Load Bus and Collect Box Lunch
The bus proceeds via a detour along PG Pulpmill Road. Guest to eat on the bus

Stop Three - The Wood Innovation and Design Centre
Participants proceed to the foyer of the WIDC for a welcome from UNBC and an overview of the WIDC. Followed by presentation from Arbios Biotech, Hydra, and Tidewater

Tour of Wood Innovation Research Lab
Tour group divides into two groups. One group proceeds to the Wood Innovation Research Lab for an overview of the building and the research that’s conducted there as well as the products and services of the University’s Northern Analytical Services Lab, which provides unique capacity in the North for resource industries. The other group will walk along George Street with a City of Prince George representative to the City’s Downtown Renewable Energy Centre (DREC) for information about how this facility distributes heat to a dozen downtown buildings.2:40pm
